Thinking skills play an important role in accessing and acquiring new knowledge, which means learning. Thinking is a mental activity which enables individuals to come up with rational and innovative answers, solutions and designs. Thinking skills are primarily important in ensuring learning as well as carrying out innovative and creative activities. People are born with an ability to think; however, this skill either improves or deteriorates in time. It is possible to improve one’s thinking skills at any age by providing him/her necessary education and training. This skill might be classified in different ways. According to one of these classifications, thinking skills are classified into five groups.

Acquisition of the skills displayed in the figure above is rather essential both for individuals and institutions. Both individuals and institutions need to benefit from these creative thinking skills in order to facilitate scientific and technological developments as well as to create innovative and creative applications and to initiate new starts, processes and outcomes that are quite different from the existing ones.
